From Heritage to Haute Jewelry
Founded April 1st, 1931, by Frederick Gleim, a trained jeweler and watchmaker, Gleim the Jeweler began as a small Palo Alto shop during the Great Depression. Frederick’s dedication to customer service carried the business through one of the most challenging times in American history. Throughout those early years, his teenage son Arthur was working by his side, as was his wife, Cora. After the war, Arthur was at the helm and in 1956 Gleim became a founding tenant of the newly built Stanford Shopping Center. Nearly a century after that first Palo Alto storefront was opened, we are proud to remain one of the original Stanford Shopping Center tenants and to have expanded our reach with a second boutique now serving clients in downtown Los Altos.
From humble origins, Gleim has grown into one of Silicon Valley’s most respected jewelers, celebrated for its estate jewelry, rare gemstones, and elite designer collections from Europe. Generations of families have trusted Gleim to mark life’s most meaningful milestones with pieces (jewelry? Creations?) of enduring beauty.
Credentials are important. Gleim the Jeweler joined the American Gem Society (AGS) in 1954, after Arthur earned his Graduate Gemologist Degree from the Gemological Institute of America (GIA). He always believed in giving back to the industry, serving in leadership positions in multiple organizations. He served as President of the American Gem Society, Board Chair of the Gemological Institute of America, and President of the Jewelers of America. He earned his Certified Gemologist degree from the AGS, becoming one of the most respected retailers in the industry, and was recognized with the Robert M. Shipley Award from the American Gem Society, the highest honor in the industry.
Georgie Gleim – President & Gemologist

At the helm of Gleim the Jeweler for more than 40 years, Georgie Gleim represents the third generation of family leadership. A Graduate Gemologist from the Gemological Institute of America (GIA), as well as a Certified Gemologist from the American Gem Society, she brings unmatched expertise in diamond grading, gemstone identification, and estate jewelry evaluation. Under her guidance, Gleim has earned national recognition as a leader in estate and fine jewelry. Like her father, she has been recognized with the Robert M. Shipley Award from the American Gem Society.
Georgie’s influence extends beyond the store. She has served as President of the American Gem Society—only the second woman in history to do so—and as board chair of Jewelers of America. Locally, her roots run deep: a Castilleja School alumna and lifelong equestrian, Georgie remains an active presence in the Palo Alto community and has held leadership positions in the Palo Alto University Rotary, the Palo Alto Chamber of Commerce, the Peninsula Executives Association, and the Palo Alto Historical Association. Her leadership reflects both Gleim’s heritage and its future, combining tradition with an eye toward evolving styles and tastes.

Bhuvan Sahney brings over 30 years of global luxury experience, with senior positions at Shreve & Co, Neiman Marcus Fine Jewelry, Gump’s San Francisco, and De Beers. His expertise in horology, rare gemstones, and fine jewelry shapes Gleim’s evolving collections.
An avid art collector and connoisseur of all things luxury, Bhuvan brings both sophistication and approachability to the Gleim experience. Beyond his professional accomplishments, he is also a devoted father of two young children, adding warmth and authenticity to his role in a family business.
